What are indications of impaired processing and perception of language (AVWS)?

For example, with these disorders, children may:

  • unable to understand speech in noisy environment

  • not concentrating well and they are inattentive,

  • not recognizing individual syllables and sounds in words, this is particularly important for learning to read and write,

  • not distinguishing similar-sounding words and sounds,

  • not remembering what is heard and/or

  • not understand two words spoken at the same time, which is important for understanding speech.

If you observe such disorders in your child, an AVWS may be present.

What is AVWS and what can we do for the affected children?

Children with a central processing and perceptual disorder can hear well. On the other hand, what is heard is processed and/or perceived differently in the brain. This disorder can be the long-term consequence of common middle ear infections. However, it can also occur without prior illness. In our practice we have all the necessary procedures to be able to diagnose the disease. We work closely with paediatricians, child psychiatrists and psychologists as well as socio-pediatric centers.

Examples of therapeutic procedures include:

  1. the logopedic therapy,

  2. practicing with special game consoles

  3. and Z. B. the playful training of memory "I'm packing my suitcase"

We, as your specialists for ENT and phoniatrics(1) and pediatric audiology(2), are at your disposal with help and advice.
